You don’t need a scientific background to ask thoughtful questions about a supplement. Start with what the ingredients are, then explore the detail that matters to you.

What are live cultures?

Live cultures — often called probiotics — are living organisms too small to see without a microscope. That is what “microorganisms” means. The cultures in Daily Pro Vitality are five probiotic strains, types of bacteria commonly described as “friendly bacteria”.

Bacteria are a normal part of your dog’s gut. They live there as a community, and some help break down fibre from food. This community is part of everyday digestion.

It helps to keep these two things separate: live cultures are the bacteria themselves; a prebiotic provides food that certain gut bacteria can use. Daily Pro Vitality includes both, bringing live cultures and nourishment for certain gut bacteria into one daily tablet. The aim is to support the gut’s bacterial community, which plays a part in healthy digestion—an everyday part of caring for your dog from the inside.

Which cultures are included?

The label lists Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus brevis, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus plantarum.

The declared total is 2 billion CFU per tablet across the blend. CFU stands for colony-forming units: a measure of live microorganisms able to grow under test conditions. The amount is stated for the blend as a whole.

What is inulin?

Just as your dog needs food in their bowl, their gut bacteria need nourishment too. Inulin is a fibre from chicory root that certain gut bacteria can use as food. That is what makes it a prebiotic.

Where does our inulin come from?

The inulin in Daily Pro Vitality comes from chicory root. It sits alongside the live culture blend as the formula’s prebiotic fibre.

Each tablet provides 250 mg of inulin, according to the product specification.

What are digestive enzymes?

Enzymes help break food components into smaller parts.

Different enzymes break down different parts of a meal: amylase works on starch, protease on protein and lipase on fat.

Why does that matter? Food needs to be broken down before your dog’s body can absorb and use its nutrients. That is how a meal provides energy for everyday activity and the building blocks for growth and repair. Our formula includes an enzyme blend with this important step in digestion in mind.

The six enzymes in Daily Pro Vitality

The 150 mg enzyme blend contains:

  • Amylase — breaks down starch.
  • Protease and bromelain — break down proteins.
  • Lipase — breaks down fats.
  • Cellulase — breaks down cellulose, a fibre in plant cell walls.
  • Lactase — breaks down lactose, the sugar found in milk.

The 150 mg is the combined amount per tablet for all six enzymes.

What else is in the tablet?

Because enjoyment belongs in the routine too.

A tasty chicken flavour brings a little pleasure to daily care. The flavour is yeast-based, and the tablet can be given directly or crushed into your dog’s food—whichever works best for you and your dog. A small act of care that fits into the routine you share.

The ingredients that help make the tablet

The label calls these “technological additives”. In tablet-making, these ingredients have the following roles:

  • Microcrystalline cellulose — a material made from plant cellulose, used to help bind ingredients together and give tablets their structure.
  • Dicalcium phosphate — a mineral ingredient used to give tablets body and help form their shape.
  • Magnesium stearate — helps stop the powder mixture sticking to the equipment that presses it into tablets.
  • Silicon dioxide — helps powders flow through the equipment and reduces clumping.
